Acronymical |
Get ready to test your knowledge of tech acronyms and abbreviations!
Can you score the max 100 points? Will you earn a place in the Hall of Fame? What will your Acronymical rating be? Perhaps "Noob" or "Tech Titan"? But hopefully, not "Catastrophic Failure".
Read on to find out how to play.
Identify as many tech acronyms and abbreviations as you can. The more you get right, the higher your score.
Click the green "Start" button on the main quiz page. The first acronym appears. Guess what it stands for by typing your answer in the text box and clicking "Submit" or pressing Enter. Acronymical will tell you if you are right or wrong. Then the next question appears. Keep playing until you have tried or passed all 20 questions.
To pass a question temporarily so that you can return to it later, click on or tab to another question. To pass a question permanently, leave it blank and click "Submit" (or press Enter). Permanent passes are counted as a wrong answer.
A timer runs during the quiz. But you'll never run out of time - it counts up, not down. So what is it for? It's used as a tie-breaker in the Hall of Fame. The faster you complete the quiz, the higher you'll rank against others with the same score.
There are five levels. The higher the level, the more points per question. You don't need to complete a level to advance to the next.
When you have answered or passed all 20 questions, the quiz shows the correct answers. It also compiles your Acronymalitics. These are stats including the number of correct questions, your score, a breakdown of points per level and your Acronymical rating.
If your score is high enough, you'll be invited to join the Acronymical Hall of Fame. You can enter your name and a place such as where you work or where you are based. This will appear in the Hall of Fame, along with your score. The Hall of Fame is public. So, only submit information that you are happy to share publicly.
To abort a quiz at any time, press the Reset button.
At the end of a quiz, to play again, press the Reset button. This clears any current answers and results and allows you to click Start again. But if you press Reset before submitting your score to the Hall of Fame, you will lose the chance to submit that score.
